Hey Gorgeous & MAG rouge

Some exciting news! My very talented friend and colleague, Rhiannon of Hey Gorgeous has been featured in the latest issue of MAG rouge! Since I have had the lucky fortune of being able to work with this adorable girl a couple times over the last year, my work was also fortuitously featured in the magazine!

You can check out the gorgeous issue here, and Rhi's insightful article where you can also also see my flowers here.

Rhi and I were introduced through a mutual friend last year (thanks Laur!) when we were both starting out. Our first collaboration was for an inspiration shoot that Rhi had put together and was styling. When she got in touch with me to do the flowers I was so excited. The sweet Valentine's Day Inspiration photo shoot that she styled, was later featured on Style Me Pretty!

Later that year, I was lucky enough to get to work with Rhi again on the beautiful wedding of Shalini & Arjun which she featured last month on her popular blog, you can see my work here too.

Rhi is not only amazingly talented in her role as owner, lead stylist and planner of Hey Gorgeous Events, she is also an amazing writer and insightful blogger. I love her hugely popular blog, Hey Gorg and aspire to one day be a quarter of the social media maven that she is! Congrats on the article Rhi, and being asked to be a regular contributor to the magazine! You are awesome.

the shop!!!

So, I guess I would call this a pretty BIG week. I've finally found my spot, signed the lease, and am on my way to opening the NEW SHOP!

The shop is on Dundas West and will be open by May 2012.

I'll keep you all in the loop and post pics of the transformation... and ALL the painting. Lots and lots of painting :)

I am so excited and can't wait to open! CAN'T FREAKIN WAIT!

the website is up!!

Well I'm happy to report the website is finally up! It's definitely been a long-time coming. Almost 2 years ago, to the very day (yes, sadly 2... it took me that long!)

I had hired Trevor (of Long Exposure Photography) to take some shots for my new website... that was March... 2010! Ha! Nonetheless it's finished now - and I can't wait for all of you to visit it and check it out! So please do... in fact go right now:

A big huge thanks to Rob who developed the site, Ivana for here amazing graphic design skills (you are my hero babe!), and Trevor (I'm still in love with these photos... even a few years later)

And here's a few of us shooting, in my now old, old apartment:

spring shower

A couple weekends ago I did the flowers for the shower of one of my summer brides/fav new photographer/and now new friend: Vicky.

As we've collaborated on shoots, projects and her wedding over the past few months I've grown quite fond of this talented girl and her amazing work! Here's her pretty site: Vicky Starz

She quickly snapped these shots for me, isn't her work beautiful?

tea with amy

The last brag blog about my NYC trip :)

My New York flower-extravaganza wouldn't have been complete without getting to meet and chat with Amy Merrick, another one of my flower idols. Her work is stunning and her website equally so.

So when she graciously agreed to meet with me and let me pick her brain I was thrilled!

We met in Brooklyn at a little bakery and coffee shop, Bakeri. Amy was sweet and humble, modest even. She told me about cool upcoming projects and the exciting news of her studio (the pictures of it look so cool). We talked about how she got started and getting up and going on her own... very motivating for a beginner like me.

I was even lucky enough to get a sneak preview of a photo shoot she did for a wedding mag. All I can say is, stunning!

Ps. That's one of my favourite arrangements by Amy pictured above... How can you not love this girl?? She's got some serious talent!

saipua visit

When I was in NYC, I took a little trip to Red Hook, Brooklyn to visit Sarah's beautiful shop, Saipua

While I was there I also had the chance to sit down with Sarah over lunch and pick her brain about flowers and running a flower shop. She had wicked insight on the biz and was totally encouraging. It was amazing to sit down with someone who has her experience and talent and hear that she went through the same growing pains, and came out the other side. Our visit may have been one of the highlights of my trip. I left feeling enthused, empowered and inspired. (Thanks Sarah!)

Ps. That's Sarah's pup Nea, pictured above, isn't she such a sweetheart? I hope Riley (our pup) is just as well behaved when it comes time to have her hang in the store with me!
