a year in review: 2013

Well, seeing as it's almost February now, I thought I should probably get my review of 2013 up... before somehow it becomes 2015!

I have been reflecting a lot lately, on the past year, the work we've done and the work I want to do. I loved 2013. It was a good year. My business turned 3, and we celebrated our 1-year anniversary in our sweet little shop. 2013 finally felt like the business was really starting to take shape, and grow into something real and sustainable. It took me three years for me to be able to say that.

2013 took us through the craziest, and I mean craziest, wedding season yet. Power-outages, cooler disasters, 5-wedding-weekends, 6-hour drives, flower boxes stacked floor to ceiling (literally floor to ceiling). I don't know that I slept from May to October (not literally May to October). But we produced some of the work that I'm most proud of to date.

Last year was also a pretty amazing year for publicity, for which I feel incredibly blessed for. We saw our work in House & Home Magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings, Flare Magazine, Weddingbells Magazine, Global TV, Ruffled and Style Me Pretty.

In 2013 our summer team grew exponentially. And I got to work with some very talented people, both summer staff and awesome freelancers. But it was my core team that really held everything together.

Jordana, our talented head designer, was a superstar. I think we spent so much time together this past summer, that she can now actually read my mind. Not only is she outrageously talented, but her maturity, passion and optimism inspires me on a daily basis.

In the fall we welcomed the lovely Cara to our team, a natural talent with the sweetest heart. I just love how excited and eager she is to learn and fearlessly try new things. I can't wait to see what this year has in store for her.

Going forward in to this new(ish) year I feel inspired and excited. I want to continue to grow the business and strengthen our brand. I want to continue to develop and hone my flower skills. I want to blog more (but I think I said that last year). I want to continue to design amazing weddings and events... so I can't wait for our 2014 weddings.

it's going to be a good year.
